Judy’s Story

Mrs Judy Sim is a parent and caregiver to Aaron Sim, who is diagnosed with Limb-Girdle Muscular Dystrophy with Asperger’s syndrome. She shares why she was excited to spread the word about include.sg.

As a parent and caregiver, I am heartened to know that AWWA has provided a one-stop resource platform for educators, caregivers or anyone who is keen to learn more about inclusion. The resources on the website are easy to understand and use, and will help those who are keen to build a more inclusive society take their first steps.

On my end, I have shared this resource portal with some of the parents whose children goes to the same school as my son, Aaron. I hope that this will help them better understand how an inclusive environment can be built, and that it does not take a lot of effort to put in a few tweaks to an activity, to enable the participation of a student with additional needs. This way no one is left behind, and everyone can get to know each other better, despite their differences.

I hope that as awareness of people with additional needs continue to grow, our society can recognise them as valuable, contributing members who have so much to offer.
