AWWA Inclusion Experts Series – 1st 2021

The first AIES webinar of 2021 saw the participation of over 700 attendees from preschools, mainstream schools, early intervention centres, special schools, allied health professionals, social service agency partners and ministries. The session was facilitated by Ms Juliet Tanuwira, Assistant Manager, AWWA Inclusion Inc.

Keynote Speaker:
Dr. Schwartz is a professor in the Area of Special Education at the University of Washington and the Director of the Haring Center for Inclusive Education at UW. She earned her Ph.D. in child and developmental psychology from the University of Kansas and is a board certified behavior analyst (BCBA-D). Dr. Schwartz has an active research and professional training agenda with primary interests in the area of autism, inclusive education, and the sustainability of educational interventions. She serves on a number of editorial review boards including the Topics in Early Childhood Special Education and the Journal of Early Intervention. Dr. Schwartz is the director of Project DATA (Developmentally Appropriate Treatment for Model), a model preschool program for children with autism that has been in operation since 1997; and is currently working on two state-wide training projects to improve the quality of educational services for students in inclusive P-12 schools. ​

Session Objectives:
– Discuss the beliefs that support inclusive education
– Provide concrete suggestions to educators, parents, and students about strategies that they can implement to make inclusion a reality
